The Nickname Tamalita

Enchanted Grapics by Tamalita…..My given name is Tammy May. My nickname is Tamalita. I got this nickname from some very dear friends of mine. Living in New Mexico, it almost sounds like I’m a little tamale. That is just not true. But the nickname stuck. Enchanted Graphics came about for two reasons. I love enchanted things, like faeries. I also live in New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment.

The Real Person

If you really want to know about me, you can go here and learn a few things For nearly 10 years, I taught animal nutrition at a local university here in Las Cruces, New Mexico. My educational training and scientific background is animal nutrition, biochemistry, and microbiology. These are the primary reasons that I am extremely familiar with education and with science. The first web site I ever put together was for one of my classes 10 years ago.. I believe I was instantly hooked and have been designing web sites ever since. For several years, I managed to find beautiful web graphics created by others and put together very nice web sites for myself, friends, and family. Special occasions are always a good reason to have a web site!

My early experiences were using HTML editors such as Adobe PageMill and Claris Home Page. I am now proficient with most of the HTML editors available including FrontPage and Dreamweaver. In addition, I am familiar with HTML, Javascript, and CSS. I also work with database-driven systems to create mailing forms, calendars, etc. My tools of choice include Dreamweaver, TopStyle and any old text editor for hand coding.

I did not dive into the graphics scene until just a few years ago. I always admired work done by others and eventually I began to develop the desire to create my own graphics. As with web site development, the graphic bug infected me. I use Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop to do all my graphic work. In addition, I have more than my fair share of plugins and filters to create unlimited special effects with images and photographs.

I need to say a bit about my computer equipment. The first home computer I purchased was a grape iMac. My husband now has that computer and my primary computer is a Graphite iMac. I love my iMac. I also use a PC with an Athlon processor. I love my iMac the best. Essentially, I am able to work with both platforms with somewhat equal ease. Cross-platform compatibility is an important aspect of web site development and design.

I am married to a wonderful man who builds custom choppers in his spare time. We live with our 2 cats, a dog and a crested gecko. In addition to all these other things, I am involved in soapmaking and ponds.

Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

I have now officially lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico longer than I have ever lived anywhere in my life. What a wonderful place to be! Las Cruces is in southern New Mexico in the Chihuahuan Desert. Las Cruces lies in the Mesilla Valley with the Rio Grande to the west and the Organ Mountains to the east. At an altitude of nearly 4,000 feet, we have 350 days of sunshine and less than 9 inches of rainfall each year. People are as friendly as you will find anywhere and life is good.
